Architetture fantastiche

Structures large and small, unique and precious, spaces poised between illusion and reality. Wooden artifacts, lined with architectural prints from the 17th and 18th centuries, representing backdrops and perspectives, as well as bizarre samples of ornamentation.

Scenography is the art of trickery par excellence and is a staple of Baroque imagery. Architectural theatricality, combined with mythological fantasies, is one of the inspiring elements of the compositions.

The images, digitally reworked, assemble details from a wide variety of prints, often provocatively mixed, bringing together inventions by architects of very different orientations.

Once assembled, the images are printed and mounted on wooden chests, designed to enhance their spatiality through perspective illusions. Inside them open drawers or 'secrets' typical of the period.

Each object takes several weeks to make, so it is a long and laborious work, where digital blends with craftsmanship and where manual skill is a key element.
